When on 1973, the International Hotel opened with 1,512 rooms as the number one on the world, a new era of mega resorts started and for the International Hotel with became the largest hotel of the world in number of rooms.  Also that spanned the era of the strip it was the third hotel and with it the Wetn Wild water and The Mirage started the formation of the today known Las Vegas Strip. 

On 1973 the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino opened to the public with 2,084 rooms to become for 2^nd time to the strip the largest hotel of the world, the number one title ended fast, when on Moscow the Rossiya Hotel took the lead by one room.

Those developments on the strip brought as a consequence less traffic to the downtown Casinos with starting renovating their Casinos to bring them to the strip standards and remain alive, this developments also impacted smaller hotel spawned over the city and the well-known and now historic hotels and Casinos like the Dunes, The Sands and the Stardust.
